Lynn Gerard will share information on where cork material comes from and how it’s made. During the presentation you learn tips and techniques and how to sew and make jewelry with cork. Cork is a regenerating material that is processed from trees. Cork has multiple uses for this amazing natural resource.

Influence and Inspiration - The Indianapolis Star Quilt Contests 1976-1987

In 1976 the Indianapolis Star newspaper and the William H. Block department store joined to promote the first of six quilt competitions, the earliest broad-based quilt competition in the country during the Bicentennial. Stressing innovation based on traditional designs, the Star invited participants to expand their skills from traditional replication to creative artistry. This PowerPoint presentation offers a look at that development, and invites attendees to share any quilts that were made for those Indianapolis Star contests.

Come learn about barbie’s journey with wool appliques and hand embroidery stitching. She will share her passion of wool applique plus some examples of creative opportunities for your own designs. She will share her twenty years of creating many patterns of wool applique and a bit of her hand embroidery passion. The needle and thread are a must daily in her life.

Color has a voice! Color speaks to us through it’s intensity, in combination with other colors, by it’s temperature, it’s value and other attributes. Learn how you can leverage color’s voice when choosing materials and patterns for your projects!

Rug Hooking

Tracy Burns

Tracy will share the history of rug hooking and how rug hooking has become her passion of choice.  She is an Indiana Artisan that works with linen and 100% wool fabric to create her work.  She will share how she cuts the fabric into 18” length strips that range from 3/32” to 1” wide.  She uses a crochet style hook with a handle, and pulls the fabric through the pattern drawn onto the linen.  85% of her work is made from recycled wool garments.
